The History of Anime Studio

Anime Studio is simply a software package that enables users to animate characters in 2D using advanced control mechanisms, such as bones, and special features, such as particles. It supports the integration of 3D objects and even allows the camera to be transformed in 3D space. These features make it a good choice for studios and individuals who want to animate scenes in the anime style. But the product is in no way limited to this style. It is simply a tool that can quickly and easily animate scenes, regardless of your chosen style.

Anime Studio, the software, started out as a simple product named Moho that was created by a single developer, the amazing Mike Clifton. This product went through several revisions until it was acquired by e frontier in 2006 and named Anime Studio. e frontier had also acquired several other impressive packages, including Shade, Poser, and an interesting package called Manga Studio. In 2008, Anime Studio was acquired by Smith Micro along with several other e frontier products.

Manga Studio is a software package that enables users to compose, ink, and publish manga-style cartoons, another Japanese export. Along with the Manga Studio package came a relationship with TokyoPop, a popular manga publisher in Japan. With the connection between e frontier and TokyoPop came the idea to rename Moho as Anime Studio and to push it as the premiere animation tool for creating anime-style animations.

The success of Anime Studio has been outstanding, with units flying off the shelves. Smith Micro has promised continued support and development of the product with new features.
