25. Changing the View with Cameras

Cameras take pictures that are two-dimensional, but the camera itself is a three-dimensional object that can be positioned in 3D space. Imagine taking a picture of a family gathering. You probably start by taking the picture directly in front of the group, but you could move to the side and take a picture at an angle from the front, or you could move directly behind the group to take the picture. If you were feeling athletic, you could climb a tree and take a picture from above the group looking down on them. Each of these pictures would show the group from a different angle, and the background would be different for each photo, even though the resulting pictures are still 2D.

The same applies for cameras in Anime Studio. You have free control to move around the 2D layers and display them from different positions in the 3D world.

This results not only in a change in the background, but also in the object perspective. This chapter looks at the Camera tools that make it possible to reposition the camera in 3D space, so read on because the family is getting antsy and is ready for lunch.
