Changing the Number of Frames and the Frame Rate

The current frame range is shown as a blue highlight that runs along the top of the Timeline palette. This range is the default range that is exported when the File, Export Animation command is used. Keys can be placed before and after the current frame range, but if they fall outside of this range, they won’t be exported.

The frame rate is the number of frames that are displayed per second. Common frame rates include 24 frames per second (or fps) for film, 30 frames per second in television, and 12 fps for the Web. Anime Studio projects can have a maximum frame rate of 120 fps.

Note

Many real-time console games run at 60 fps.

You can alter the frame range and the frame rate values using the File, Project Settings dialog box, as shown in Figure 16.2. The Start Frame doesn’t have to start at 1 and the End Frame can be as high as your machine has memory for.

Note

Anime Studio Debut has a limit of 3,000 frames, but Anime Studio Pro has no limit.
