When the Stroke option is enabled, the shape stroke is colored using the designated color and its thickness is determined by the Line Width value. A stroke can also include a single effect applied using the Effect drop-down list. The available line effects include the following:
Shaded: This effect adds a gradient along one edge of the object to make it appear to be raised.
Soft Edge: This effect blurs the edges of the stroke.
Halo: This effect adds a colored glow that surrounds the stroke.
Gradient: This effect adds a two-color gradient across the surface of the stroke.
Image Texture: This effect fills the stroke with a selected texture.
These available line effects that can be applied to a stroke are the same as those for fills, as shown in Figure 15.23. For strokes, there are two new effects that only apply to strokes.

The Soft Edge and Halo stroke effects are only visible when rendered.
