Contractor Categories

As you’ve seen already, you have several general categories to choose from when searching for a contractor. For the most part, it’s pretty clear which category you’ll be searching within. However, sometimes you’re not sure. Is it Sales and Marketing that you’re looking for, or Design and Multimedia?

As you begin sifting through the wonderful world of contractors, you’ll come across many that are of interest. Elance has a handy Watch List feature next to each contractor’s profile. Use this or you can end up searching for ages for that one great contractor you ran across but just can’t find again.

To help narrow your choices, you can actually search for specific skills within each category. Click on Hire in the top left of the main toolbar. This will bring up a drop-down menu. Click on Browse to reach the categories shown in Figure 10.1.

When you click on one of the individual skills, you’ll be taken to the page listing all contractors registered with that skill. Contractors may appear within more than one category skill. And of course, you may need more than one skill for your job. This gives you a direct way to search for those skills.
