Job History and Snapshot

At this point you’ve completed the Overview section of your profile. This is an extremely important area for you to spread the message of your talents. But we’re not done yet.

The job history and snapshot areas of your profile highlight the work you’ve already done on Elance, as shown in Figure 4.6. Obviously at the beginning you won’t have any numbers here (see Chapter 8 to learn how to get started quickly). But as you progress and build your Elance career, these numbers will reflect what clients can expect from you in the future. Hence, they’re incredibly important.

Clients will go to your statistics not only to see how active you are on Elance—a sign that you’re serious about your business and deliver quality goods—but also to check out the feedback left by other clients.

TOP TIPS

One way to get great feedback is to simply ask for it. I always set up the expectation right at the beginning that I was working for positive feedback. Then at the end, I asked for it again. If you follow through on what you promised the client, there’s no reason for her to not give you a stellar rating and feedback.

Good feedback is crucial and something you need to proactively work on. I show how you can do this in Chapter 6. You also have a chance to respond to feedback. This allows you either to compliment the client in return, or to explain why something went wrong if the feedback is less than expected.
