You Can Succeed

The freelance life is not for everyone. As romantic as it sounds to be tapping away on your laptop while sitting on the beach, umbrella laden drink at your side, reality is actually a bit different. It’s true that as you succeed your lifestyle will become your own. If 3 A.M. is your optimal work hour, you can flick on the light and get to work while dressed in your PJs, the dog snoring at your feet.

But there’s also the day-to-dayness of finding more clients, pleasing the ones you have, and—most important for some—not having the luxury of a steady paycheck. In short, freelancing isn’t for everyone. But if it’s for you, you can succeed if you’re self-motivated and disciplined.

CYBER SNAGS

At the beginning, you may very well receive 19 rejections for every job awarded. This can be hard on the ego and lead you to wonder if you should bag this freelancing idea. Instead, the way to think of it is, you got one! Not that you lost 19. Perseverance pays.

So remember this as you move forward with your freelancing career. It’s not always easy, and sometimes you’ll think you’re working harder than if you just had that regular paying job. But if you stick with it, the freelancing lifestyle can be downright amazing.
