The Key to Top Talent

One of the single most important aspects that you, as a client, must remember is that the best talent is also assessing and evaluating you. In later chapters I will show you how to search for freelancers for your job, and I will explain how to write effective job descriptions (in Chapters 10 and 11, respectively).

However, you’ll be carving the turkey with a dull knife if you don’t also consider how they will see you in return. The best contractors are very busy people. Some will be available on the spot, if your timing is good. And others will let you know if they have time, and if so when it would be. In return, you will get some very high-quality work done.

So before you begin your search for the best talent, and before you design your magnetic job posting, you need to sit back and understand how you are viewed by those you want to hire. Learn what they will see and value. Doing this is time well spent.
