About the Author

Karen Lacey has been freelance writing and editing on Elance since it opened its virtual doors in 2007. Her online journey began after having given up her six-figure-a-year job with a financial services company. Karen had a dream—to live a life full of adventure and meaning—and Elance helped her fulfill it. After discovering what Elance could do, she stepped into the virtual work world, never to look back.

Through her ghostwriting, editing, and proofreading business on Elance and other virtual workplaces, Karen has converted three screenplays into novels, one of which placed in a national competition; written four self-help books; and edited and proofread countless other books and articles.

While working online, Karen has lived in Buenos Aires, Argentina; Cocoa Beach, Florida; and now resides in Palm Desert, California, all the while freelancing her way to freedom. She has also written two novels, countless short stories, and is a 2011 graduate of the grueling Odyssey Writer’s Workshop.
