Levels

You will see a level designation on the Job History page. In Figure 4.6, the contractor’s level is 10. The level is a way Elance ranks you according to a proprietary algorithm. In a nutshell, it’s calculated, among other things, on the quantity of work you’ve done, the ratings and recommendations received, your job acceptance rate, the number of tested skills you take, and the quantity of verified credentials you have.

DEFINITION

A contractor’s level refers to their activity and achievements on Elance. The higher the level, the greater that individual’s or business’s activity, earnings, and positive feedback.

For an individual contractor, the levels range from 1 to 12—the higher, the better. For companies, they range from 1 to 17. The way to make sure your level is as high as possible is to work toward the preceding criteria. Elance Terms of Service violations and jobs cancelled due to poor performance would be negative factors in the calculations.
