Enhanced Contacts

Interacting with one’s contacts is better than ever in Lync “14.” Users can customize their displays of their contacts based on availability, groups, or level of privacy. They can also choose whether to display photos and start meetings or conversations from the Contacts by simply pointing to the contact. Even editing contacts is available in Lync “14.”

With integration to SharePoint, Lync users can now perform keyboard searches when looking for contacts. Information such as a title or a specific skill can be used to search for other users. This makes it easier than ever to find the right person when you need assistance.

Imagine running into a problem with PowerShell and being able to search in your company for users who know PowerShell. You can search a person out, see whether that person is available, and launch right into IM to ask a question. By populating the new expanded contact card, you can show and search more information about people in the rest of the organization.
