Test Dial-In Conferencing

,

Validating the dial-in conferencing configuration should be performed after the initial setup is completed, but before users are using the new features in production. Testing can be performed either through manually dialing each of the access numbers or by leveraging the synthetic transactions in Lync Server 2010. If using the manual route, simply dial each of the access numbers assigned and verify that the conferencing attendant is heard. Also be sure to verify that DTMF tones can be passed and successfully control the command features.

To use the Lync synthetic transactions, the Lync Server Management Shell must be used. Open a new session and use the following commands:

1. Invoke a credentials prompt and enter credentials of a user authorized for PSTN dial-in conferencing:

$TestCredentials = Get-Credential

2. Run the Test-CsDialInConferencing cmdlet:

Test-CsDialInConferencing –UserSipAddress <SIP address of user with sip: prefix>
-UserCredential $TestCredentials –TargetFQDN <Pool Name>

3. Verify that the test reports a success.

Note

Lync synthetic transactions are internal to the system and can only validate the Lync Server configuration. Be sure to manually dial the access numbers to verify that IP/PSTN gateways and SIP trunks successfully pass the calls to Lync.
