Lync Server Role-Based Access Control Features

Taking a page from the Exchange 2010 book, Communications Server has similarly adopted a role-based access control approach. This is something that administrators have clamoring for across Microsoft technologies and Lync Server delivers. Lync Server RBAC allows an administrator to add users to predefined administrative roles, of which there are 11 predefined roles that should cover most common administrative scenarios. Gone are the days when a help desk tech had to have the rights to modify a topology just to have rights to enable Communications Server for a new user. With RBAC in Lync Server, administrators can follow a least privilege model and grant someone only the rights they need to do their job and no more. Each role is tied to specific cmdlets in the Server Shell that the role is allowed to perform.
