Call Parking and Other PBX Features

,

Call parking is the capability to place a call on hold from one endpoint and then retrieve the call from a different endpoint. This is useful in locations where a large number of people share a relatively small number of phones.

Imagine a situation in which a reception person receives a call for a given employee and is able to park the call on an “extension” and announce to the employee that a call is waiting on that particular extension. Administrators can control behavior such as how long a call can be parked before it returns to the original target. For example, a receptionist might park a call and announce it on a specific extension and after two minutes, if the call is picked up, it rings the receptionist so that he or she is aware that the call wasn’t picked up by the person who the caller was trying to reach.
