Monitoring Server Features

,

Readers who previously managed OCS 2007 or OCS 2007 R2 are likely aware that the Monitoring Server features are not up to par with the rest of the product. Lync Server addresses many of the legacy issues and greatly improves on the functionality. Some of the new features include

Rich reporting—The Monitoring Server role now uses SQL Server Reporting Services to provide useful information about media quality, call reliability, and system usage. Administrators can access a custom dashboard view that presents each of these reports in a single interface.

Updated database schema—The Quality-of-Experience (QoE) and Call Detail Records (CDR) databases have been updated to include new diagnostic and usage data. This results in schema updates for both.

New management features—All administration and management tasks associated with the Monitoring Server role are now integrated into the Communications Server Management Shell.

Optimized Infrastructure—The Monitoring Server infrastructure has been updated to improve reliability and maintainability compared to previous versions.
