PowerPoint provides four views of presentation content. You can edit slide content in these two views:
Normal view. This is the default view. This view displays three panes:
The Navigation pane, which displays either the Slides page showing thumbnails of the slides in the active presentation or the Outline page showing an outline view of the text in the presentation.
The Slide pane, which shows the currently selected slide as it will appear in the presentation.
The Notes pane, which provides a place for entering notes about the current slide. These notes might be related to the development of the slide or they might be speaker notes that you will refer to when delivering the presentation.
You can change the size of the panes in Normal view by dragging the splitter bars between the Navigation pane and the Slide pane left or right, and by dragging the splitter bar between the Slide pane and the Notes pane up or down. You can close the Navigation pane by clicking the Close button in its upper-right corner, and restore it by clicking the Normal view button on the View toolbar.
Slide view. This view displays the current slide at the maximum size supported by the open presentation window.
You can’t edit slide content in the following two views:
Slide Sorter view. This view displays thumbnails of every slide in the presentation. You can insert and delete slides; rearrange slides by dragging, copying, cutting, and pasting; and select multiple slides to set a common property, such as a transition or a theme.
Slide Show view. This view displays the full-screen slide show of your presentation.
For information about entering text on PowerPoint slides, see "Add Content to Slides" in Chapter 6.
