The Address Book appears in the same program window that displays the Mail module we worked with in Chapter 15, but the toolbar and layout of the program window change to best display contact information.
The Address Book displays contact records in a list format. By default, the following contact record fields are displayed in the Address Book:
To Do Flag Status
Links
Contact Type
Name
Company
Work Phone
Home Phone
Email Address
Folder
Categories
Projects
You can display other fields by opening the contact record or by adding the field to the Address Book view. You can change the displayed fields by pointing to Columns on the View menu or by right-clicking any column heading and then clicking individual field names on the list that appears. The list of fields that you can display (and more importantly, that you can record information in) is quite impressive. Check marks indicate fields selected for display.
The fields that are selected are displayed regardless of whether any information is stored in them.
By default, Entourage displays contacts in order by last name (but displays the full name). You can change the order of the contact records by clicking the heading of the column you want to sort by, and the sort order of the column (high/low to low/high) by clicking the heading a second time.
