Wild West Color
Dusty, desaturated neutrals—tan, beige, taupe, and grayish ivory—
form a backdrop for the Wild West palette, alluding to the desert
and rocky landscape of the western American continent. Deeper
browns, brown-oranges, and muted violet also evoke the environ-
ment, calling to mind the mountains and mesas of the Southwest.
Middle-value and slightly lighter reds, derived from Navajo and
Pueblo textiles, add warmth to the palette; black and deep umber
round out the color scheme at the darker end of the value scale.
