Chapter 13
Listing Your E-Book on Amazon’s Kindle Direct Publishing
In This Chapter
Setting up a Kindle Direct Publishing account
Filling in information about your e-book
Reviewing your published e-book
Creating an author page at Author Central
Amazon is the largest e-book retailer (in profit and e-book sales), selling 60 percent of all e-books globally in the first quarter of 2012. Although Smashwords (described in Chapter 14) has agreements with other sites, it has yet to begin distributing via Amazon, so if you want to sell your e-book from the Amazon site, you need to put it there yourself.
The good news is that Amazon has a relatively straightforward system for filling out information about your e-book and for uploading it — plus plenty of documentation and friendly community forums, where you can find help and support.
This chapter tells you how to set up a Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) account and explains how to add your e-book to your account, by filling in the correct information and uploading the file. You can see how to create an about-the-author page on Amazon to help boost the sale of your e-book.
