Getting Your E-Book onto E-junkie

After your E-junkie account is ready to receive payments, it’s time to add your e-book. Though E-junkie accepts files in almost any format, you can upload only one file for your e-book. If your e-book consists of several files (for example, if you’re supplying EPUB, MOBI, and PDF versions), you zip them into a single folder to upload to E-junkie.

Adding a new product in E-junkie

To add your e-book to E-junkie, follow these steps:

1. Click the Seller Admin link on the menu.

2. Click the Add Product link in the Manage Products section.

E-junkie opens a page for you to fill in details for adding a product, as shown in Figure 12-1.

3. Complete the following information in the Product Configuration section on the left side of the screen:

Name: Type the name of your e-book as you want it to appear in customers’ shopping carts.

Single File Download: Leave this check box selected.

Let Buyers Edit Quantity in Cart: (Optional) Deselect the check box. This step prevents customers from accidentally buying more than one copy of your e-book.

Price: Enter an amount in the Price box, and select a currency.

tip.eps You can ignore the optional settings on the right side of the screen. It’s a nice touch, though, to add a short e-mail message thanking your customer for buying your e-book and asking him to e-mail you if he has trouble downloading the file.

4. After you’ve entered all the details, click the Submit button.

Your product is created (you still need to upload your e-book file), and you see onscreen the code for the Add to Cart and View Cart buttons. You can click a tab to view the code for the Buy Now buttons. (And you can easily return to the code later.)

tip.eps Click the More Options button on the E-junkie Add Product screen (before Step 4) to add these elements (you can also edit a product to add these at a later stage):

check.png An expiration date for your e-book: Add this date if you’re offering your e-book for a limited period.

check.png Download Link validity: The default setting is 120 hours and 5 download attempts, to help prevent customers from sharing their link with other people. You can increase or decrease the time and the number of attempts, if you want.

check.png Location of a Remote Product File URL: This element is necessary only if your e-book file is so large that E-junkie cannot host it, such as when you package videos with your e-book.

Uploading your e-book file

After you click Submit to create your product (refer to Step 4 in the preceding section “Adding a new product in E-junkie”), you should see the Upload Product File button at the top of the page, where I’ve entered My First e-Book as the name of the e-book:

To add your e-book file, follow these steps:

1. Click the Upload Product File button.

2. Click Choose File, and browse for the file on your computer.

3. Click Upload.

Keep the window open until the file has finished uploading.

Your e-book is added to E-junkie.
