SharePoint Foundation 2010 has functionality that is truly woven into the heart of the Microsoft Office 2010 Suite. These client applications possess the ability to not only interact with content from the SharePoint site, but also (in some cases) to modify the structure of the site.

There are many versions of the Office 2010 suite, ranging in scope from the very limited Office Starter product through the complete Office Professional Plus Suite. There are also additional products, such as Visio 2010 and Project 2010 that, while not part of any Office edition, add value to a SharePoint site.

While we have touched on the core integration of certain components from the Office 2010 Suite (in this case Word, Excel, and Access), Outlook 2010 provides a detailed level of integration, which is covered extensively in Chapter 12.
