This surreal image is part of a series called Form and Atmosphere, in which a very fine line of focus achieves a sense of depth and atmosphere. Using the shift and tilt functions on a 4 × 5 view camera, you can tilt the lens and the film planes in opposite directions to gain a very narrow line of focus and blur the rest of the image.
