This dreamy scene is an HDR photograph that has been “tone-mapped,” enhancing local contrast to create a vividly detailed look. Often when people first view an HDR image they say it “looks like a painting.” The dazzling clarity that results from tone mapping gives photographs like this a surreal yet hyperrealistic quality. HDR tone mapping is quite effective in scenes like the one here, where rustic textures meet dramatic skies.
