The concept for this series of images was inspired by the 1874 gold rush in South Dakota. The models were cast as a lady of the evening and a gold prospector. Her motivation to seduce the prospector is to rob him of his pouch of gold.

The series depicts the flirtation that leads to intoxication. The modern twist for the editorial piece was to cast models with current cultural tattoos. The tattoos added a crisp graphic element to an aged and distressed set. A lot of care was given to the props; it included treating all of the surfaces with powdered pigments and matte finishes to the glassware to get the dusty, gritty feel of an Old West saloon. —MR
