DAY 36 | SPORTS & PHOTOJOURNALISM |
Getting a celebration shot can be very complicated. After big championship games, photographers seem to revert to a primitive state, running on the field frantically trying to capture the players’ emotions. They bump into each other and obstruct one another both physically and visually.
Peyton Manning, quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts, was holding up the Lombardi trophy after winning the Super Bowl. I could not get a clear shot of him in his entirety, so instead I captured a timeless photo by zooming in on the trophy. The reflections and rain gave it a unique feel, and even without a player it still strongly symbolizes the triumph and excitement of winning. —TH
