Every city has up-and-coming and established designers who are in constant need of strong photographs to exhibit their creations. The garments are often one-of-a-kind and can bring a unique look to a fashion shoot. Review their collections and samples, and often the style of their design will inspire photographic concepts and editorial narratives.
Plan on what accessories will complement the clothing and the type of lighting that will do justice to their work. Inquire about the size of the garments. Most designers create clothes best suited for tall, slender runway models from sizes 0-4. In this photo, a model that was a finalist from the show America’s Next Top Model fit the bill nicely. A fitting before the actual shoot is always suggested. It’s very helpful if the designer is present at the shoot to collaborate in the process and to style the garments properly. —MR
