A LEAP OF FAITH

My goal was to create a unique photo that captured the essence of the Smuin Ballet for their marketing material. I had a several dancers perform their favorite moves with the San Francisco skyline in the background. Their jumps from the ground were not high enough to eclipse the skyline.

Then one of the dancers suggested jumping off a nearby picnic bench. He did a freestyle leap that provided enough clearance to make it feel as if he was jumping over the city. (No dancers were injured in the production of this image.) —TH
