Jubilation

WHAT VICTORY LOOKS LIKE

Every so often there is a victory for a school or team that creates fanatic reactions from students and alumni. To celebrate, they breach security, jump onto the field, and run wild.

Here the University of California quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, is lifted in the air by fans. I used a wide-angle 17-35mm lens to allow close proximity to the subject. I also set the camera to a faster shutter speed to freeze the action and compensate for all the bumps I would absorb in the melee. —TH
