DAY 237 | FASHION & BEAUTY |
When shooting an assignment for a client, a photographer must create the compositions with the clothing as first priority. Think of the models as props, and the clothing as the main subject.
This photograph was produced from a series of images for a fashion footwear ad campaign that appeared in Vogue magazine. The shoot was on location at a ranch in the country. The idea came from finding the wheelbarrow in one of the unoccupied farmhouses on the ranch.
A shady area was selected, with the sun serving as a back light for the models. The exposure was metered for the available light and overexposed one f/stop for a flattering skin tone. An on-camera flash was used for fill light and another flash was mounted on a stand and placed behind and to the left of the models to add rim lighting. The models were posed to showcase the boots worn by the female model. —MR
