THIS ONE’S MINE

After shooting a magazine fashion layout, I had enough time to shoot some personal images of this model. Her black dress had wonderful long sleeves and a great silhouette, which was perfect for shooting in black and white.

In the end, this simple pose proved to be the most effective image in this dress, combined with her direct gaze into the lens. I included the edge of the negative, which acts as a frame.

The moral of this story is that when you get a magazine commission, make sure that you shoot what you are asked to do; then always try to get another shot for yourself that might be even better. —SA
