Flowers

YOU CAN’T IMPROVE UPON ‘EM

For a photographer, there are no limits, no end to subjects begging to be recorded. A flower garden is a prime example. It’s full of colorful plants just waiting to fill the viewfinder. Flowers come in different sizes and shapes, and in every color of the rainbow. They’re the perfect objects to photograph, because they don’t move fast and won’t bite. Flowers aren’t shy but rather boastfully display their petals.

Photographing them need not be difficult. A tripod isn’t required, and in the confines of a crowded garden may be more of a hindrance than a help. Take advantage of the sweet light at the beginning and end of the day, compose carefully, and shoot at a high shutter speed in order to blur the background. If everything’s done correctly, you will have immortalized a beautiful flower—the perfect picture. —WTD
