Flagging Notes for Follow Up

Whether you are working individually with Office OneNote 2007 or plan to share your notes with your team, flagging items for follow up is an important part of prioritizing and acting on important tasks. Office OneNote 2007 includes a huge set of Note Flags you can add to your notes or customize to suit the needs of your project (see Figure 8-9). You can add your own images, choose new colors, and more.

You can use the Note Flags Summary Task pane to see at a glance all the Note Flags you’ve added to your notebook (see Figure 8-10). In addition, you can use the Note Flags Summary Task pane to navigate to specific notes—just clicking a flag takes you directly to that note in your notebook.

Tip

Any item you flag with a To Do flag in Office OneNote 2007 automatically appears as a task in your Microsoft® Office Outlook® 2007 To-Do Bar.

Customizing Flags

You can easily customize the flags in Office OneNote 2007 by clicking the Flags down arrow in the Standard toolbar and choosing Customize My Note Flags. The Customize My Note Flags task pane appears so that you can click the flag type you want to change and click the Modify button. In the Modify Note Flag dialog box, specify a name for the flag and choose a new symbol, font color, and highlight color. Click OK to save your changes.
