Using the Animation Effects Toolbar

The Animation Effects toolbar provides another means for accessing many of PowerPoint's animation capabilities for text. Table 14.1 illustrates the buttons on this toolbar.

Button Name Description
Animate Title Applies a default animation effect to the slide title
Animate Slide Text Applies a default animation effect to the slide text
Drive-In Effect Displays a drive-in effect on the selected text, which enters from the right
Flying Effect Displays a flying effect on the selected text, which enters from the left
Camera Effect Makes object appear through a camera shutter with accompanying camera click sound effect
Flash Once Flashes the selected text once
Laser Text Effect Displays the selected text as if it were printed by a laser printer
Typewriter Text Effect Displays the selected text as if it were entered on a typewriter
Reverse Text Order Effect Displays the selected text in reverse order
Drop-In Text Effect Drops in the selected text from the top of the slide
Animation Order Displays a drop-down list for setting the order in which slide objects are animated
Custom Animation Opens the Custom Animation dialog box
Animation Preview Previews the slide animation in a small preview window

To view the Animation Effects toolbar, click the Animation Effects button on the Formatting toolbar. These buttons all duplicate animation features we've already discussed, but their placement on one toolbar can be very useful for animating text objects.
