Choosing a Style

The default organization chart style includes a manager box with horizontal subordinate boxes. If this style doesn't suit your needs, however, you can change it. Other options include grouped boxes, vertical boxes, and styles that omit boxes altogether. Based on your original paper design, determine which style works best.

To change your organization chart to another style, select the entire chart—or a portion of the chart—with the mouse, choose Styles from the menu, and then click the new style on the palette. Figure 10.4 illustrates this palette. PowerPoint redesigns the default style.

Note

You might want to apply the style to an entire chart, but in some cases you may only want to apply a style to a certain part of a chart. Grouping subordinates vertically rather than horizontally is an example.

To save space, you can eliminate subordinate boxes entirely if you want. Figure 10.6 illustrates an example of this.
