Power BI

Overall, the Power BI service usage can be monitored from the Usage metrics menu in the Power BI Admin Portal. The Usage metrics menu contains statistical data on dashboards, reports, datasets, and packages in use inside your Power BI, presented on tiles. The tiles are arranged into two groups: statistics by users and statistics by groups.

The following metrics are available:

  • Number of user dashboards
  • Number of user reports
  • Number of user datasets
  • Most consumed dashboards by users
  • Most consumed packages by users
  • Top users with most dashboards
  • Top users with most reports
  • Number of group dashboards
  • Number of group reports
  • Number of group datasets
  • Most consumed dashboards by groups
  • Most consumed packages by groups
  • Top groups with most dashboards
  • Top groups with most report

From an individual user reporting perspective, if usage metrics have been enabled in the Power BI admin portal, usage metrics can be obtained by opening a workspace or a report, and then selecting the icon for Usage metrics. Usage metrics can be used to determine the effectiveness or usefulness of particular datasets or dashboards and provide insights on power users who can help provide feedback or other opportunities for improvement.
