Six overall administration roles can be used to administer aspects of the Power BI tenant:

| Office 365 Billing Administrator | Office 365 | Can acquire Power BI licenses and other Microsoft 365 subscriptions |
| Office 365 Service Admin | Office 365 | Can open support tickets for all Microsoft 365 services, including Power BI |
| Power BI Admin | Power BI tenant | Full control over all aspects of Power BI tenant and its administrative capabilities and features (except purchasing licenses) |
| Power BI Premium Capacity Administrator | A single Power BI Premium Capacity | Has full control over a premium capacity and its administrative capabilities and features |
| Power BI Embedded Capacity Administrator | A single Power BI Embedded Capacity | Has full control over an embedded capacity and its administrative capabilities and features |
