Managing guest access settings in Microsoft Teams

To enable guest access in Microsoft Teams, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the Microsoft Teams admin center (https://admin.teams.microsoft.com).
  2. Select Org-wide settings | Guest access:

  1. Move the slider for Allow guest access in Teams to On to enable guest access in Microsoft Teams.

The ability to enable guest access in Microsoft Teams is dependent on other settings in Azure Active Directory and Office 365 Groups, as well as settings in the Microsoft 365, SharePoint Online, and OneDrive for Business admin centers.

Once the slider for guest access has been switched to On, the configuration options for guests can be configured, as shown in the following screenshot:

The options that can be configured are as follows:

Section Option Description
Calling Make private calls If enabled, guests will be able to make peer-to-peer calls.
Meeting Allow IP video If enabled, guests will be able to use video in calls and meetings.
Screen sharing mode If Allow IP video is enabled, this option manages the screen sharing options: Disabled, Single application, or Entire Screen.
Allow Meet Now If enabled, guests will be able to use the Meet Now feature.
Messaging Edit sent messages If enabled, guests will be able to edit previously sent messages.
Delete sent messages If enabled, guests will be able to messages sent in Teams.
Chat If enabled, guests will be able to use the chat in Teams.
Use Giphys in conversations If enabled, guests will be able to use Giphys in conversations.
Giphy content rating If Use Giphys in conversations is enabled, the available selections for this option will be Strict, Moderate, and Allow all content.
Use Memes in conversations If enabled, guests will be able to use memes in conversations.
Use Stickers in conversations If enabled, guests will be able to use stickers in conversations.
Allow immersive reader for viewing messages If enabled, guests will be able to use the immersive reader. The immersive reader is an accessibility option that can read posts and chat messages aloud. Once guest access has been configured throughout the environment, guest users can be invited to Microsoft Teams.
