Embedding custom Yammer feed information

First, you'll need to collect the identifying information for the Yammer group, topic, or user object you wish to embed. To get the feed ID for your object, observe the following steps:

  1. Using a web browser, navigate to the user or group, select a feed, or search for a user.
  2. In the URL bar, search for the feedId= parameter (for a group or feed) or the user ID from the URL (last numeric parameter):

  1. Launch the Yammer Embed Widget configuration link (https://www.yammer.com/widget/configure):

  1. Fill out the Behavior and Appearance options using your values, and then click Apply changes to preview it in the window to the right:
    • Network permalink: This will be your domain name for Yammer, such as contoso.com or contoso.onmicrosoft.com.
    • Default group_id: Only necessary for user and topic feeds, it specifies which group should be the default for new posts created from the feed.
    • Custom prompt text: This text will be displayed when a group or My Feed type is selected. The default value is "What are you working on?".
    • Feed type: Group (the feed for a group), My Feed (the current user's home feed), Topic (conversations tagged with a topic), User (conversations that include messages from the specified user), or Open Graph (show conversations based on a specific OpenGraph object).
    • Feed ID: This is the ID you copied in step 2 for a group, topic, or user. This field should be blank if you specify My Feed as the feed type.
    • Default to canonical: Only select this checkbox if you are using external networks. If a user selects an external network from an embedded Yammer feed, the user will be returned to the external network if they navigate back to this page and the option is clear. If this option is selected and the user selects an external network from the embedded feed, the user will start over at the default feed location when they return to the SharePoint page.
    • Use SSO: Configure redirection to your identity provider, such as Active Directory Federation Services. If configured, the domain listed in the Network permalink value must be configured for federation in Office 365.
    • Show header: Choose whether or not to show the Yammer group header in the embedded widget.
    • Show footer: Choose whether or not to show the Yammer footer in the embedded widget.
    • Hide network in header: Choose whether or not to show the network information in the header.
    • Theme: Select a color scheme or theme for widget display:

  1. Select the code under Example code and copy it.
  2. Navigate to a page where you want to embed the Yammer group and edit the page.
  3. Select a place to place the content. On the Insert tab of the page, select Embed code.
  4. Paste the code and save the page.
