At some point, it may become necessary to discontinue future use of an existing term. Deprecating a term inactivates it for usage, but existing instances of the term continue to be applied. Deprecating a term does not affect any of its child terms.
Deprecating a term has two easy steps:
- Expand the groups and navigate to the target term set containing the term you want to deprecate.
- Point to the item you wish to deprecate, click the down arrow that appears next to it, and then select Deprecate Term. If you choose to deprecate a reused term, all instances of it are deprecated.
You cannot deprecate a pinned term, though you can deprecate a reused term. You can also reactivate a deprecated term by selecting it and then choosing Enable Term.
