162 Certification Study Guide Series: IBM Maximo Asset Management V7.1 8.5.1 Hazards A hazard is important information used in safety plans. It can contain procedures about precautions, hazardous materials, and tag out/ lock out operations. Hazards can be managed by using the Hazards application. To open it, select Go To . Planning . Safety . Hazards. A hazard has three types of associations: Precautions This type enables a hazard to contain precautions. A precaution is added to a hazard when the Can Have Precautions check box is selected. This option enables one or more previously created precautions to be related to the current hazard. Hazardous Materials This type enables a hazard to contain information about hazardous materials. If the Can Have Hazardous Materials check box is enabled, this association is set, and you may set hazardous material information to the current hazard. Tag Outs This type enables a hazard to be used with tag out/ lock out procedures. Tag outs are created in the Lock Out / Tag Out application and are associated with hazards in both the Assets and Locations application. The Tag Outs tab in the Hazard application lists only the related tag outs. Figure 8- 19 shows an example of an Electrocution hazard that enables tag outs. Figure 8- 19 Electrocution hazard for tag out/ lock out operation Precautions and hazardous materials are the only things that can be associated together. If a hazard is associated with tag outs, it cannot be associated with precautions or hazardous materials. Figure 8- 19 shows this example by disabling the association of precautions and hazardous materials when tag outs is enabled.
