Chapter 8. Work Management 161 8.5 Safety module A safety plan has the objective to describe safety requirements to execute or accomplish work orders. This procedure helps employees stay informed about hazards while performing work and the actions they must take to prevent accidents. IBM Maximo Asset Management provides a set of applications that define safety procedures to be associated with work orders with the objective to define precautions when executing the orders. These applications are located in the Planning module. To open it, select Go To . Planning . Safety. The Safety module contains the following applications: Hazards This application defines hazards that exist in the workplace, associates preventive measures with these hazards, and links hazards to other related documents. Precautions This application defines safety procedures and lists all hazards associated with it. To relate a precaution to a hazard, use the Hazards application. Lock Out/ Tag Out This application describes how to take work assets out of service and how to place them back in service. This application defines the locking and unlocking sequence for the lockout operation. Safety Plans This application defines safety plans to be applied on Job Plans or directly to the work orders. Note: Work order can use failure class information to classify its problem code. Note: Safety applications are related to planning and are located in the Safety planning module. To open it, select Go To . Planning . Safety.
