This took a category which was full of bread wrapped in images
of wheat and upended it completely. What consumers really
know of bread is the end product, smothered in beans, or
cucumbers. This design brought bread into much more relevant
territory in a beautifully simple way that’s colorful and has
immense standout and differentiation.

Perhaps this is the design that made
me decide to pursue packaging design
as a profession. I distinctly remember
its impact on me. The total package
epitomizes the qualities of really good
packaging design—timeless, transporting,
aspirational. If I recall correctly, the
printing technology used thermography,
which added texture and an innovative
quality to the nostalgic design.

This is a lovely package, from the soothing
colors to the beautiful type which is similar
to that of Chanel No. 5. Every aspect of
these highly designed packages is perfect.
This package feels timeless and will feel
fresh 10+ years from now.
