As we have mentioned, there are many scenarios where publishing custom metrics is required. Either it is because we require operating system metrics that are not provided by default or because we are looking to post metrics from our own application to the CloudWatch service. We have the ability to use the CloudWatch agent, the AWS CLI, and the CloudWatch enhanced monitoring scripts that are downloadable.
