Network Load Balancer

The newest delivery from AWS is the Network Load Balancer (NLB). This highly available fully managed service was introduced to deliver a very high network throughput and very low latencies to client services at the network level. It can serve millions of requests per second and deliver consistent performance, even for very spiky application operating patterns. Since it works on the network layer, it cannot deliver any higher layer features, like those provided by the ALB, and it is tied to a specific static or Elastic IP address and a specific target availability zone – that is the trade off for the performance. We are, however, able to expose the requester's source address and that still gives us the ability to control session behavior within our backend.
