The 3D Presentation

AN IMPORTANT TYPE OF MEDIA that every 3D business or freelance artist should have ready at all times is a detailed presentation of what they do and how they do it. Whether you present this in person, by mail, or provide over the Internet, a 3D presentation is an invaluable tool that should be continuously updated and reviewed. This product should showcase some of your best work, while simultaneously presenting an overview of the 3D process and the range of your services. A few sample slides of the presentation 3DAS uses are shown in Figure J-1 and the presentation itself is provided in the file entitled 3D_Presentation.pdf. Feel free to use this as a guide to creating your own.

It should be mentioned that while sample DVDs (such as the one shown in Figure J-2) serve as a great tool to showcase one’s work, especially when that work is an animation, a DVD should never be the sole type of media you rely on to present your work to potential clients. If you meet with a potential client face-to-face, you should always be prepared to show a slide show of your work, as needed, and the prices you charge. At 3DAS, we have created two versions of the same presentation, one with and one without pricing, and show one of the two as the situation dictates. Leaving a printed version of this presentation can also be helpful in helping a client remember your work.
