IF YOU ARE A SOLE proprietor or small business owner and want an effective technique to get your foot in the door with architectural clients, consider becoming a certified continuing education provider. Many states and countries require architects to complete a certain number of hours of formal education each year, and if yours is one of them, you can take advantage of this by offering a course for which local architects can receive their credits. Figure I-1 shows the website and posted regulations for the State of Florida regarding continuing education for architecture and interior design.

Anyone can create a continuing education course of 1 hour or more and submit it to his or her respective government for approval, as the individual in Figure I-2 has done. Doing so can open new doors for your business. For a more in-depth discussion on continuing education and its marketing benefits, see Appendix E.

Visit this book’s homepage to download a copy of the 1-hour course taught at 3DAS, entitled 3D CAD for Architectural Visualization. Figure I-3 shows some of the slides from that presentation found in the file 3D_CAD_Brief.pdf.
