Editing the Microsoft 365 Usage Analytics Power BI template file

You can also use Power BI to modify an existing definition or template to display more customized information. In order to use the existing Power BI template file to create a custom Microsoft 365 Usage Analytics report, the following steps can be taken:

  1. Download and save the Power BI template file from Microsoft Download Center, which is available at  https://download.microsoft.com/download/7/8/2/782ba8a7-8d89-4958-a315-dab04c3b620c/Microsoft%20365%20Usage%20Analytics.pbit.
  2. Using Power BI Desktop, open the template file you saved in the previous step.
  1. Insert your tenant ID, which can be obtained from the Activity Reports page in the Microsoft 365 admin center (https://admin.microsoft.com | Reports | Usage | Microsoft 365 Analytics card) and then click on Load.
  2. After loading the data, customize the report as desired:

As in the previous option, it is up to the report owner to publish and make sure data stays current.
