You can also use Power BI to modify an existing definition or template to display more customized information. In order to use the existing Power BI template file to create a custom Microsoft 365 Usage Analytics report, the following steps can be taken:
- Download and save the Power BI template file from Microsoft Download Center, which is available at https://download.microsoft.com/download/7/8/2/782ba8a7-8d89-4958-a315-dab04c3b620c/Microsoft%20365%20Usage%20Analytics.pbit.
- Using Power BI Desktop, open the template file you saved in the previous step.
- Insert your tenant ID, which can be obtained from the Activity Reports page in the Microsoft 365 admin center (https://admin.microsoft.com | Reports | Usage | Microsoft 365 Analytics card) and then click on Load.
- After loading the data, customize the report as desired:
As in the previous option, it is up to the report owner to publish and make sure data stays current.
