Yammer

Yammer is a social networking platform, integrated into Office 365. Yammer has a feed-style interface and is organized by creating groups. Yammer can be used to post announcements, host live events, take polls, follow conversations, and participate in chats. It supports images, file attachments, GIFs, and @ mentions, like other popular social networking platforms.

Yammer can be used to replace the SharePoint Online newsfeed or configured as a part of the web interface on a modern SharePoint page, as shown here:

As you can see, these applications have a lot of integrations with other components in Office 365. The application integration allows you to move between applications and draw the user's attention to certain pieces of content, no matter which user interface experience they're using. For example, you can mention or tag a user in Teams, and they'll get an activity notification in Teams as well as one in Outlook. If you mention or tag a user in Yammer, they'll get notifications in Yammer and Outlook. You can use Teams to bring together Stream, video channels, or Yammer group content, making users aware of updates in a single user interface instead of relying on a user being logged in to the particular site or application you're commenting on.

In the next section, we will cover how enterprise mobility concepts of device and application management help to secure these services.
