Office 365 ProPlus is the new, subscription-based edition of the familiar Office application. The applications you're familiar with (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint, and OneNote) are still part of the Office 365 ProPlus package.

In Chapter 5, Understanding the Concepts of Modern Management, we introduced the concept of Windows-as-a-Service (WaaS) and the Windows Deployment and Release model for Windows 10. In this chapter, we will shift the discussion to Office desktop applications. Similar to the WaaS model, Office 365 ProPlus has unique considerations. In this chapter, you'll learn about the deployment and licensing options for Office 365 ProPlus and how to choose the right options for your organization.

One of the core differences between retail or volume license editions and the Office subscription model is the concept of channels in Office 365 ProPlus. Like Windows 10, Office 365 ProPlus has update channels and release cadences to understand.
