Look, It Moves

Look, it moves! Well, not quite yet, but it soon will!

One of the most important aspects of any game is movement. Movement can be anything from a character moving within the environment, to the environment (and various parts of it) moving on its own. Animations breathe life into our environment, and take our static graphics and transform them into interactive worlds.

With this in mind, this chapter will cover the following topics:

  • Explore how to build a more complex Animation State Machine than the one we did for the explosion in Space Shooter.
  • We will do this by properly setting this State Machine up. We will be able to easily control the animations within the script in Chapter 10, Let's Get Physical, in which we will focus on building a controller for our main character.
